Dr Poulami Chakraborty, who has been my guide and mentor, working in the Materials Science Division(MSD) at BARC specialising in Corrosion rate analysis of various metal composites which are to be used in Nuclear Fusion Reactors. She is currently associated with the development of a liquid metal loop to be used in the study of the corrosion rate of test specimens. Similar loops around the world are PICOLO loop(Germany), Dragon loop(China), etc.
My work with Dr Poulami Chakraborty had primarily been in three different projects.
Design and development of an automated sample holder for the liquid metal loop (Pb-17Li Eutetic Corrosion testing rig).
The design for the automated sample holder involved a critical selection of materials that could sustain corrosion rates against constant molten Pb-17Li Eutectic and also specialised welding procedures had to be maintained. I had run the CFD analysis on ANSYS FLUENT to help predict optimal geometry of the loop and keep the turbulence minimal to assure even flow around different test samples.

CFD simulations of Lead-Lithium Flow within the loop.
Cut sections of the aforementioned loop with simulated velocity and pressure profiles of Lead Lithium Eutectic at dictated input constraints. Simulations run on ANSYS FLUENT.

Development of a feasibility prediction algorithm for the composition of High Entropy Alloys.
High entropy alloys have certain defining parameters and identifying these compositions manually are extremely tedious would rather turn out to be a cumbersome trial and error methodology. I worked on developing an algorithm employing MATLAB to run permutations and filter out possible composition candidates for study
