Double Chamber Tea Bags have the advantage of higher infusion rates into the solvent when dipped. But the forming and packaging of such bags are exponentially more complicated than a single chamber counterpart.

In co-ordinance with A.D.Paul & Co., I had been associated with the design of an indigenous Double Chamber tea bag packaging machine that attaches a string and tag without the use of staples, owing to the recent ban of staples in tea bags within India and working towards greener alternatives.

The design for the machine was initiated with us breaking it down into separate modules based on function. There were four major modules to which I was assigned. I had designed and simulated them on SolidWorks. Several iterations of modifications with my peers were completed. Designs of two of the modules are presented here.
